Is This You?

Who Is This For?

Who This Is For:

  • You own an Idaho small business doing $1M or more a year, in any industry.
  • Your CPA files the return every spring and you rarely hear from them the rest of the year.
  • Your revenue went up and your tax bill went up with it, but the way your taxes get handled never changed.
  • You're making a big call this year, like a new hire, new equipment or a building, and want the tax side worked out first.
  • You'd rather have one team handle your tax plan, books, payroll and returns than juggle separate firms.
  • You want a CPA who shows you the write-offs and strategies that apply to you, not just one who files.

This Is Not For:

  • W-2 employees and retirees who only need a personal return.
  • Businesses doing under $1M a year.
  • Owners who only want a return filed once a year with no planning.
  • Anyone looking for help with IRS back taxes or an offer in compromise.

100% Done-For-You

Here's Everything We Do For You

Here's how Rick and his team handle the tax side of an Idaho small business, all year long.

We Look Back First

We start with your recent returns, the strategies already in play, what's worked for you and where it hurts, so nothing gets recommended without the full picture.

We Plan Around Your Goals

We look ahead at where you want the business in 6 months, a year and 5 years, and build your tax plan around that, not around last year's return.

We Make The Tax Moves

We set the right entity structure, find the deductions you've missed (from your home office to your vehicles) and work out whether the people doing your work should be employees or contractors.

We Meet Through The Year

We meet with you throughout the year so the plan keeps up with your business, and our tax manager builds tax forecasts as things change, not just at filing time.

We Keep Your Books And Payroll

Our accounting team runs your payroll and keeps your monthly books current, so every decision and every write-off rests on real numbers.

We Project, Then We File

Before December 31st we project where your year will land and make the last moves, then we file your business and personal returns, state returns, sales tax and 1099s.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you disappear after April like my last CPA?+
No. We meet with you throughout the year so the plan keeps up with what's happening in your business, and our tax manager develops tax forecasts during the year, not just at filing time. When you call the office, someone on our client service team answers and gets your question to the right person.
Do you file my returns too, or just do the planning?+
Both. Our tax team files your business and personal returns, including state returns, sales tax and 1099 reporting, and our accounting team handles your monthly books and payroll. You don't need a second firm for the basics, and the plan and the return come from the same people.
Is this legal, and will it hold up?+
Yes. We use the law as written: the deductions, credits and entity rules Congress put there on purpose. Our accounting team keeps your books and payroll current through the year, so every write-off is backed by real records if a question ever comes.
It's already fall. Is it too late for this year?+
It's later than ideal, but far from too late. Many moves have to be finished by December 31st, like getting equipment in service and running decisions through payroll, so we project where your year will land and line up the biggest moves first. The savings show up when your return is filed.
What does it cost?+
Sager CPAs & Advisors doesn't publish a price list. Rick quotes your fee up front on the strategy call, once he understands your business and what you need from us.
Who will I actually work with?+
Rick Sager, a CPA who started the firm in 2011, plus our tax director, our accounting director (who is also a CPA), our tax manager and our tax advisors. In 2023, Thomson Reuters gave Rick its Luca Pacioli Advisory Accelerator Award.
Do you only work with Idaho businesses?+
Most of our clients are close to home, with our office in Meridian and a second location in Garden Valley, but we work with owners in other states too. CPA firms and law firms around the country refer their own clients to us.
What should I bring to the strategy call?+
Your most recent business and personal returns, a profit and loss for this year (even a rough one out of QuickBooks) and a short list of anything big you're planning. If your books are a few months behind, bring what you have, because getting books current is part of what our accounting team does.
One Last Step

Want To See What Your Business Could Save Before December 31st?

On the strategy call, Rick looks back at your recent returns and ahead at where you want the company to go. Then he shows you which moves fit your business and about how much each one could save.
